Apple tweaks iPod Photo name

iPodlounge reports that Apple has changed the name of its iPod Photo to iPod photo (lower case “p”) in an attempt to unify its iPod product names. “The product’s name now matches that of the iPod mini. Apple’s Web site appears to have been quietly made over to reflect the name change.

Formac introduces dual-layer 16x DVD burner

Formac today announced the Devideon 16x DL, a new DVD/CD external drive that features speeds of up to 16x for DVD-R and DVD+R media. The Devideon 16x DL also takes advantage of the new dual-layer technology, allowing Mac users to store up to 8.5GB of data or video on a single disc. Bundled with Formac’s DVD authoring software, the new drive features a FireWire interface and support for DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW and CD-R/RW.

J.P. Morgan ups Apple earnings estimates

J.P. Morgan has raised its earnings estimates for Apple, saying it has “increasing confidence” in Apple’s music business. The firm raised fiscal 2005 and 2006 per-share earnings estimates to US$1.48 and $1.91, from $1.28 and $1.53, respectively. “The success of Apple’s digital music initiatives has been established, but its sustainability is still a hotly debated topic,” J.P. Morgan said.
