New foundries from around the globe include ArFF, Churchward Type, Dooley Type, E-phemera, Fontlab Ltd., Incipit, MADType, ParaType, preussTYPE, Solotype, Thirstype and David Thometz Design.

WebOffice adds Mac, Linux support

As of version 6.0, Polycom WebOffice — a personal conferencing portal solution that enables instant, ad-hoc video calls for group and desktop video users — supports Mac and Linux environments. It also offers deeper video integration (it can detect whether users are video-enabled), advanced video control (you can control the video and voice aspects of the conference on the fly), and expanded server options. Participants using a Mac or Linux system are supported through a light Web client.

Curio helps creatives organize ideas

Zengobi has announced the release of Curio 1.0, new Mac OS X software that “helps creative thinkers and design professionals generate, communicate, and organize their best ideas.” Curio’s freeform sketchbook environment allows users to collect images, bookmarks, documents, movies, and text clippings; take notes; and sketch with pressure-sensitive pens. It includes an integrated dossier feature with creative brief support, and a feature called “Sleuth” to make scouring the Web for inspiration easier.
