OpenOSX Office 1.5 now available

OpenOSX today announced the availability of Office 1.5 for Mac OS X 10.3, a solution for configuring, installing and utilizing the open source GNOME Office software. This newest edition offers enhanced integration with Mac OS X, completely new and updated software, improved installation, along with additional features and enhancements. GNOME is a free desktop environment included with many distributions of Linux. Mac OS X includes its own desktop environment and does not include the support libraries required to run GNOME Office.

WinSwitch 2.0 enhances makes Fast User Switching

Wincent Colaiuta has announced WinSwitch 2.0, the latest release of the popular replacement for Apple’s Fast User Switching menu. Version 2.0 offers several new features, including the ability to auto-launch applications, scripts or documents when switching to or from other user accounts; two new options for menu bar display style: “first name only” and “initials only”; as well as numerous other enhancements and bug fixes. Sony unveils the HDV 1080i consumer camcorder

Sony today introduced the world’s first HDV 1080i camcorder. The HDR-FX1 Handycam camcorder records and plays back high definition video with 1080 interlaced lines of resolution — the highest resolution (1440 pixels x 1080 lines) of any consumer camcorder available, according to the press release. The camcorder’s video resolution is enhanced by Sony’s new three-chip, one-megapixel Super HAD CCDs.
