MCE Technologies is now shipping internal and external 8x DVD-/+R/RW solutions for Power Mac G3s and G4s. Each internal (US$149) and external drive ($199) is compatible with iTunes, Finder Burning and iDVD (internal version only), and ships with Roxio Toast Lite (versions 5 and 6), ImageMixer DVD Authoring Software, and Dantz Retrospect Express backup software. The drives write to DVD-R and DVD+R media at up to 8x speed and to DVD-RW and DVD+RW at up to 4x speed. In addition, it writes to CD-R media at up to up to 24x speed, writes to CD-RW at up to 24x speed, reads DVD-ROM discs at up to up to 12x speed, and reads standard CD-ROM discs at up to 40x speed.
