AOL Time Warner to charge for Web magazines

AOL Time Warner will move the free Web sites for a number of magazines into its America Online proprietary service, reports c|net. “Beginning Sunday, the popular magazines People and Entertainment Weekly will no longer offer content on their Web sites for free. Content will be accessible only to magazine subscribers and AOL members. Newsstand buyers are granted access to content on the publication’s Web site, but only for the duration of the magazine edition they purchase.

Apple highlights Xserve cluster at Bio-IT World

Apple showed off its recently introduced Xserve cluster configuration at this week’s Bio-IT World Conference & Expo in Boston. MacCentral reports on a technology showcase that was led by Doug Brooks, Apple’s product manager of server hardware, who discussed the Xserve. Henrico schools showcase iBooks, host NSBA visit

Today through Saturday, the Henrico County Public School system will host one of two site visits nationwide by the National School Board Association (NSBA). Dozens of school leaders from across the nation are expected to attend, according to a Richmond.com article. The NSBA chose Henrico because of its Teaching and Learning Technology Initiative, which provided Apple iBooks to all of its high school students and teachers.
