textSOAP gets maintenance update

Unmarked Sofware today released textSOAP 3.3, a maintenance update to its text editor that allows users to quickly clean up Web and email text littered with extraneous characters and poor formatting. Version 3.3 contains several enhancements and bug fixes. textSOAP is available for Mac OS 8.6 or higher and OS X, priced at US$19.95. Unmarked Software also updated its web site to provide better support for the product.

Apple names Tevanian chief software technology officer

Apple today announced that Avadis “Avie” Tevanian will become the company’s chief software technology officer and Bertrand Serlet will be promoted to senior vice president of software engineering. In his new role, Tevanian will focus on “setting company-wide software technology directions.” Serlet will now report directly to Apple CEO Steve Jobs and lead the company’s OS Software Engineering group. “This will be a seamless handoff,” said Jobs.
