iSkin offers keyboard protector for iBooks, PowerBooks

iSkin today announced an updated ProTouch PB keyboard protector for Apple’s new iBooks and PowerBooks. The form-fitting ProTouch PB is made of a flexible, high-grade silicone that provides a transparent barrier against spills, dirt, and other unwanted elements that may get in between the keys of the keyboard and potentially cause damage to the laptop. The ProTouch PB (US$19.99) will begin shipping Dec. 11, and will be released initially in Arctic (frosted transparent). Sonic (transparent electric blue) will be released shortly afterwards.

Microsoft.com running on Microsoft again

After spending a few months relying on the Linux operating system for protection, Microsoft appears to have switched its Web site back to its own Windows 2003 Server software. “Since August, requests to Microsoft.com had the look and feel of being served up by open source code,” The Register reports. “Microsoft enlisted hosting provider Akamai’s Linux server army to fend off a disheartening number of DDoS attacks, worms and the like.

‘Halo World Premiere’ events scheduled [updated]

First Tech Computer of Minneapolis, MN has announced that it will be hosting a special launch event for the release of MacSoft’s Halo: Combat Evolved on Saturday, Dec. 13. The “Halo World Premiere” will provide FirstTech customers an early hands-on experience with this long-awaited title. The event will feature several demo stations on the sales floor, as well as LAN multiplayer games and door prizes. Hours are 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Virtix releases Arsenal for iMovie
