Apple Japan recruiting for Tokyo store

Apple Japan is currently looking for employees for the new Apple Store in Tokyo’s Ginza shopping district, which is expected to open in early 2004. The store, which was first announced in May, will be of the “high profile” format, like the SoHo store in New York City and The Grove in Los Angeles. Apple’s “New Music Tuesdays” continue today with additions to the iTunes Music Store from Joe Firstman, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Danilo Perez, State Property, Steadman, Blue October, Clay Walker, and Waylon Jennings. Apple has also added new music from Zwan, Da Brat, Sarahh Vaughan, Karsh Kale, Cowboy Junkies, Aaron Carter, Eve 6, and Clarence Carter. In addition, exclusive tracks were added from Michelle Branch, Seal, Thelonious Monk, Tamia, and Jeff Buckley.

Fortune: ‘Is HP the new Apple?’

Fortune’s David Kirkpatrick looks at Hewlett-Packard’s huge product launch yesterday, and wonders if HP is the new Apple. “It’s a comparison HP willingly invited as it introduced 158 new products all at once — from printers to PCs to cameras to inexpensive photo paper. Apple of course has led the way toward a vision of integrated digital consumer devices and software for imaging, music, and video.
