Akamai Technologies today announced that Akamai and Apple are extending their commitment to the company’s global platform and EdgeSuite content distribution services to deliver streaming video and audio over the Internet. Akamai’s suite of services currently provide the worldwide infrastructure to support content delivery and software downloads for Apple.com, including the hugely popular QuickTime Movie Trailers site, as well as serving as the backbone for Apple’s QuickTime Streaming Operations. Additionally, the Akamai EdgeSuite platform provides the network architecture that handles file distribution for Apple’s new iTunes Music Store.
