MobileStar, a wireless Internet service provider that offers 802.11b (AirPort) access at hundreds of Starbucks locations across the country, as well as hotels and airports, has reportedly laid off 88 employees, which sources claim is “everybody.” The company, which neither denied nor confirmed the layoffs, is expected to make an announcement regarding its future in the coming days. For US$29.95 per month, MobileStar offers users unlimited access from any of its locations in a supported metropolitan area. Locations are said to all be equipped with at least a T1, offering the savvy net user a high-speed connection as they enjoy their latte.
