LaCie has announced that it is now shipping CaptyDVD, a full-featured DVD authoring application for the Mac. The software allows users to create customized DVDs with drag-and-drop, offers an enhanced chapter feature, and burns DVD discs and Video CDs. It supports MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and QuickTime movies as video sources, and also supports NTSC and PAL standards. CaptyDVD is available for Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X, ships with the LaCie d2 FireWire DVD-Rewritable Drive (US$379), and is sold separately for $149.
