iPhoto downloads top 1 million

Apple today announced that more than 1 million copies of iPhoto have been downloaded since the free Mac OS X software was released at Macworld Expo San Francisco in early January. Total distribution of iPhoto is even higher, as the software has been bundled with new Mac systems since the Expo. “With more than one million downloads in just two months, iPhoto has almost instantly become one of the most popular digital photo applications of all time,” Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, said in a statement.

Global home Internet audience eclipses half a billion

Nielsen/NetRatings revealed in a study released today that over 498 million people worldwide had Internet access at home by the end of 2001, according to CNN. North America holds the largest share of the global Internet audience at 40 percent, followed by Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (27 percent combined), and Asia (22 percent).
