Kinetic Creations has released Export Icon 1.7, the latest version of its Photoshop plug-in for exporting images as icons. Version 1.7 adds Mac OS X compatibility with Photoshop 7. Export Icon 1.7 costs US$14.95 ($19.95 on CD); a trial version is available that allows for up to ten uses.

Apple has put together a page to demonstrate the capabilities of MPEG-4 and other technologies present in QuickTime 6, as noted by Macworld UK.

Apple has launched a new promotion whereby customers who purchase Mac OS X from now through September 2, 2002 will receive 75 4×6 Kodak prints free through iPhoto. In addition, customers will receive 10 free prints simply by signing up for a 1-Click account with iPhoto. Free prints expire 60 days after being credited to your iPhoto account and this offer does not include shipping and handling charges.

During the past week, MacDesktops has posted 14 new pictures, including: PS2 style OSX (Logos, Mac OS X), Hackintosh (Logos, Mac OS), Body bend (Art), Black Hole (Starscapes), and more. Meanwhile, Mandolux has posted 15 new desktops: 10 Blackhawk helicopters (aerospace), three Giants (Dual monitor and giant size), one Technosis/Anthraxis (abstract), and one Fire and Flame desktop.

Virtix has announced the release of Pan & Scan, containing 10 special effects that allow the user to move back and forth between portions of a video clip in iMovie. The Pan & Scan package contains the following effects: Pan, Pan Gentle, Pan Swish, Pan Start and Pan End. Virtix Pan & Scan for iMovie sells for US$19.95 and is available for download now from Virtix’s Web site.
