A second Apple Vice President in two days has disclosed his intent to sell a large block of shares in the company. Peter Oppenheimer, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Finance, filed to sell 152,500 shares, valued at US$3.7 million, with an approximate sale date of May 14, according to Dow Jones Newswires (link unavailable). Avie Tevanian, Apple’s Senior VP of Software Engineering, disclosed a sale of $2.1 million in stock on Wednesday.

Is Apple about to take the gloves off and be more persuasive in converting Windows users over to Macintosh? According to an article on c|net today, it would appear so. The article reports that Apple will try and convert current PC users to Macs by comparing Windows systems side-by-side in Apple retail stores in the US. The story also reports Apple will open 18 more stores this year for a total of 49.

Palm today announced a new promotion whereby customers who purchase a Palm m500 handheld will get a Palm m105 handheld for free via a mail-in coupon. Palm also announced the availability of DualDate, a free application developed by WeSync that allows friends and family to share their calendars with other DualDate users and view two calendars at the same time on their handheld. The promotion expires July 8, 2002 and is available in the US and Canada only.

Canon today introduced the PowerShot A200, a 2.0 megapixel, single-focal length autofocus camera incorporating several advanced features, including Movie mode, Photo Effect Mode, and Direct Print capabilities using Canon’s new CP-100 dye-sub printer. The A200 comes bundled with a range of software and will be available in July for a suggested retail price of US$299.

Aspyr Media has announced today that Medal of Honor Allied Assault is now shipping. The new multiplayer 1st person shooter is based on the Quake III engine and takes place during World War II. As Lt. Mike Powell, member of the famed 1st Ranger Battalion, players embark on campaigns from the battlegrounds of North Africa, to Omaha Beach, and finally, thrusting into the heart of Nazi Germany itself.
