iCab 2.8.1 is the latest preview release of the alternative Web browser for Mac OS (System 7 and later) and Mac OS X. The new version offers better support for Java under Mac OS X and several bug fixes. In addition, secure Web sites (HTTPS) now work when using a proxy/firewall.

GolfMeister 3.5, a shareware application used to record and analyze golf scores, has been released. GolfMeister tracks statistics on greens in regulation, drives in fairway, eagles, birdies, and more. Version 3.5 offers several bug fixes and has been Carbonized to provide native OS X support. GolfMeister is US$20 shareware.

Proteron today announced the public availability of LiteSwitch X 1.0.1, the company’s keyboard application switcher for Mac OS X. Previously, LiteSwitch X was only available to paying customers of Proteron’s OS X utility, MaxMenus. LiteSwitch X features a transparent, resizeable window which is invoked by a configurable key-combination that allows users to switch to any application; hide, quit, or force quit any application; or drag-and-drop files onto any application.
