Photo Explorer 2.0 consumer editing software released
Ulead Systems has released Photo Explorer 2.0 for Mac, an application for acquiring, organizing, and sharing image, video, and other media files. Ulead bills Photo Explorer 2.0 as the “next step” for iPhoto users, offering more image enhancement tools. The software is available for download for US$24.95 and is compatible with Mac OS 8.6 and later and Mac OS X.

Struggling semiconductor giant Motorola, which developes the PowerPC G4 processor, announced today that it will cut an additional 7,000 jobs and take a US$3.5 billion charge in the process, Dow Jones reports. Motorola cut 4,000 jobs earlier this year in an effort to curtail expenses and return to profitability. By the end of the year, Motorola expects to have about 100,000 employees — down significantly from its peak of 150,000.
