Struggling semiconductor giant Motorola, which developes the PowerPC G4 processor, announced today that it will cut an additional 7,000 jobs and take a US$3.5 billion charge in the process, Dow Jones reports. Motorola cut 4,000 jobs earlier this year in an effort to curtail expenses and return to profitability. By the end of the year, Motorola expects to have about 100,000 employees — down significantly from its peak of 150,000.
