Mariner Software today announced that it has relaunched and restructured its company, and has debuted a new Web site and new logos. Mariner Software has also released an upgrade to its flagship word processor product, Mariner Write. Version 3.0 features significant performance improvements, as well as Mac OS X compatibility, readability of Microsoft Word documents, mail merge functionality, sharing documents by saving as a PDF, and spell checking-on-the-fly capabilities. Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 due in third-quarter

Adobe introduced Photoshop Elements 2.0 today, the newest version of its consumer-targeted digital imaging software. Sporting Mac OS X compatibility, Photoshop Elements 2.0 features a number of new editing tools for digital photography, including the option of viewing both the original and modified version of an image when applying common lighting and color correction effects. Other features include a new file browser and Selection brush for more easily masking images.

E-on software updates 3D scenery software

E-on software has released Vue d’Esprit 4, an update to its award winning 3D natural scenery software. The new version features support for importing LightWave 6+ LWO2 files, direct static Poser scenes, and TrueSpace 5 files, and exporting Cinema 4D terrain. Other enhancements include improved import of low resolution pictures into the Terrain Editor, and improved rendering. Vue d’Esprit 4.1 is available for download to all registered users of version 4.0, which is priced at US$199.

CanOpener 5.0 utility ships for Mac OS X

Abbott Systems today released CanOpener 5.0, the first Mac OS X version of its 12 year-old utility for reading virtually any kind of file, including those damaged or infected by viruses. While Abbott’s site has yet to be updated with information version 5.0, the software is available for purchase for US$65 ($30 upgrade, $495 site license) directly at (800) 552-9157.
