Adobe unveils Premiere 6.5

Adobe today announced Premiere 6.5, a new version of the company’s digital video editing software. The upgrade features Mac OS X support, Real-Time Preview, the Adobe Title Designer, new sound engineering tools, new hardware support, and five new Adobe After Effects filters, among others. Adobe Premiere 6.5 will ship in the third-quarter for US$549 ($149 upgrade).

Real branches out to Microsoft format

In a bid to avoid being “Netscaped,” RealNetworks is expected to announce a new version of its software Monday that supports streaming audio and video in more formats, including Microsoft’s Windows Media Player format, according to The New York Times. Amid increased competition from Microsoft and Apple, the software is expected to give RealNetworks a boost by enabling customers to maintain its solution while catering to more formats.
