QPict Media Organizer updated

QPict Media Organizer 5.2 is the latest version of the easy-to-use media asset manager. The update adds a host of new features, including digital camera support, Quartz text rendering, improved performance, XML export, improved PDF and fonts support, JPEG 2000 support, and Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) compatibility. A complete list of improvements can be found in the application’s version history. QPict Media Organizer is available for Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X, and is US$35 shareware.

MCE announces iBook Combo Drive upgrade

MCE Technologies announced today that it is now offering an internal CD-RW/DVD Combo Drive designed to replace the original CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, or CD-RW optical drive currently inside Apple’s iBook. The Combo Drive is available for both the 12.1″ and 14.1″ Dual USB iBooks, and records to CD-R discs at up to 8x speed, records to CD-RW discs at up to 8x speed, reads DVD-ROM discs at up to 8x speed and reads CD-ROM discs at up to 24x speed.

Esquire names Apple’s Jonathan Ive to America’s “Best and Brightest” list

Jonathan Ive, Apple’s vice president of design, is among the 43 innovators Esquire magazine has named to its “Best and Brightest” list of emerging leaders who are “reshaping our world.” For more than a year, Esquire editors researched, interviewed, discussed, and identified scores of pioneers who are “blazing the trail to a better world.” Others cited in the issue are Baltimore Mayor Martin O’Malley, CEOs David Neeleman (JetBlue) and Ed Breen (Tyco), NASA’s Mars specialist Dave Lavery, and genetic scientist Eugene Chan.
