Ziff Davis Media, publishers of PC Magazine and the now defunct Yahoo! Internet Life, will file for bankruptcy by the end of the week, according to The New York Times (free subscription required). Sources say the company will restructure with bondholders receiving new equity in the form of bonds, cash and a percentage of the company. Six of the company’s 15 magazines have been shut in the last six months; Ziff Davis will maintain nine magazine titles, none of them Mac-related. Last year, Ziff Davis sold its 50 percent stake in MacPublishing, publishers of Macworld and MacCentral, to IDG.
