Sorenson Media has released a preview of its Sorenson MPEG-4 Advanced Simple Profile video codec, which is designed for Internet, Intranet, and embedded applications. Licensing options for the new codec are available through Sorenson’s Business Development group. The company also announced an enhanced version of its live and on-demand media webcasting service, Vcast. The new version employs an industrial strength LDAP directory for more easily uploading, organizing, and managing video and audio assets. A new, low-cost US$25 per month plan will be introduced in May 2002.
