Netscape today filed suit against Microsoft “to seek redress for the Microsoft’s anti-competitive conduct.” The suit, which references previous judgments in 2000 and 2001 against Microsoft, seeks “injunctive relief sufficient to prevent further antitrust injury to Netscape” as well as an award for treble damages. During the U.S. Government’s landmark antitrust case against Microsoft, the Court of Appeals ruled unanimously that Microsoft browser war tactics violated the Sherman Act and seriously reduced the distribution of Netscape’s Navigator Web browser.
