Plextor today announced the PlexWriter 40/12/40A CD-RW, the world’s first CD recorder to boast 40x recording speeds. Additionally, the drive features Burn-proof technology, a black tray that reduces C1 error rates, an improved power supply that decreases noise, and a diagnostic system that tells users if errors were caused by the drive, media, or system. The drive is currently available in an internal E-IDE (ATAPI) version for US$209. Look for other companies to begin offering the drive in FireWire enclosures soon.
