ADTX comes to America

In a press release issued yesterday, Advanced Technology and Systems Co., Ltd. (ADTX) out of Yokohama Japan announced that they have opened an office in Garden Grove, California to introduce their storage products to the United States. ADTX U.S. acquired many of its regional managers in the US from MicroNet Technology, which closed its doors in February of this year. The current Macintosh storage products include a line of RAID systems, mirrored drives, the FireWire Direct Recording Disk (DRD) and several products for the OEM market.

Panasonic debuts DVD-RAM/R drive

At PC Expo today, Panasonic announced that it has begun shipping the industry’s first DVD-RAM/R drive to OEM customers. The drive supports 2.6GB/5.2GB and 4.7GB/9.4GB DVD-RAM discs, as well as 4.7GB DVD-R media. The internal drive is expected to sell at retail for under $600, bringing DVD recording capabilities to a wider audience than the current “SuperDrive” DVD-R/CD-RW drives that sell for around $1000.
