ALLEGIANT ANNOUNCES SOUNDMAKER 1.02
Innovative pro-quality audio editing software adds new QuickTime features
and a host of minor improvements

SAN DIEGO- March 14, 1997 – Allegiant Technologies, Inc. today announced
the first update to SoundMaker, its full-featured sound editor for easily
creating, editing and enhancing digital audio files. SoundMaker originally
shipped from Allegiant on January 7, 1997.

Version 1.02 is available free from Allegiant’s Web site and offers several
new features, in addition to correcting some minor bugs from earlier
versions. SoundMaker’s support for QuickTime has significantly improved
with the addition of a new QuickTime editing window, thumbnail previews for
visually synchronizing movies and audio waveforms, and a new QuickTime
MIDI-to-AIFF export feature.

The QuickTime editing window enables users to add, edit, and delete audio
tracks within QuickTime movies as well as offering volume, balance, and
usage control with time offsets for each track.

Voice-activated recording (VOX) has also been enhanced with a new “Pause
instead of stopping” checkbox in the VOX pane of the Record dialog. This
now allows the VOX recording process to continually enter and exit record
mode based on input level, for as long a time as RAM permits. VOX recording
is especially useful for professional voice-over work or when recording
natural conversation is called for.

“The professional-quality features of SoundMaker, across the entire range
of audio recording and processing requirements most audiophiles would need,
makes it an essential choice for anyone doing anything with audio files or
even QuickTime movies,” said Scott Simon, Product Marketing Coordinator for
SoundMaker. “Let’s face it – it’s inexpensive, has tons of cool features,
and offers the most extensive cross-platform file support around (including
Internet .au). That adds up to a ‘must-have’ program for any Mac user!”
Simon added.

Other improvements to SoundMaker:

* A new Time ruler in document windows.
* When an audio effect is being applied, an estimate of time remaining is
now shown in the Effect Application progress window.
* Minutes:Seconds Unit added.
* The Spectrum Window has been enhanced with a logarithmic scale and
range control options for better viewing of waveform frequencies.
* Sound Designer II file format support has been added which, in addition
to support for Sound Designer regions (loops and markers), now makes
SoundMaker compatible for use as a DECK II editor.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS, PRICING AND AVAILABILITY
SoundMaker has extremely modest system needs, requiring a Macintosh Plus
or above, System software version 7.0 or better, a hard disk drive, and a
minimum of 4 megabytes of RAM. It is PowerPC native and works with the

SoundMaker is available immediately and has a suggested retail price of
