AAA+ SOFTWARE SHIPS JOY SERVICES FOR RHAPSODY DR2
— Free scripting application now available for DR2
Vienna, June 26, 1998. AAA+ Software announces the release of Joy Services
1.0/DR2 for Rhapsody Developer Release 2. This software is free. Users can
enhance their work environment by implementing short Joy scripts.
Corresponding menu items are added to Rhapsody’s Services menu. No other
developer tools are required.
Joy Services 1.0/DR2 is for use with Rhapsody DR2 only. For other Yellow
Box platforms Joy Services 1.0 is the current version.
Joy Services are free. Joy Services require the Joy frameworks. These are
part of the commercial Joy package. Just download and install it. There is
no need to purchase a Joy license key to use Joy Services.
Joy Services 1.0/DR2 comes with a small collection of example services.
Among them:
Files/Copy Paths Copies the full pathnames of the selected files to
the pasteboard.
Files/Group in Folder Tells Workspace to create a new folder and move the
selected files into that folder.
Files/Open Matching Prompts for a regular expression (e.g. *.gif), then
asks Workspace to open any matching files in the
current folder.
Joy/Search in Manual Opens the documentation for the selected Objective-C
class name or Joy command.
Joy/Evaluate Expression Interprets the selected text as a mathematical
expression and replaces the selection with the
result.
Text/Capitalize Capitalizes the text in the selection.
Text/To Lowercase Converts the selected text to lowercase.
Text/Trim Left Removes all leading spaces, tabs, newlines, and
carriage returns from the selection.
Creating new services with Joy Services is very easy. Many of the examples
above are single line scripts.
The entire functionality of the Yellow Box frameworks is accessible through
Joy scripts. Scripts can interact with and create any object, class, or
method. In addition, Joy Services encompasses the entire command set of Tcl
8.0.

If you are already a user of Joy, make sure to upgrade to the latest
version before installing Joy Services. The current release version for
Rhapsody DR2 is Joy 1.13.
