Firm to launch iTunes-style service in UK
Wippit is planning to launch an iTunes-style music download service in the UK, reports The Register. Music label EMI has signed on and will be offering a catalog of 175,000 songs via Wippit. Other major labels are expected to sign on in the future. Every track will be in MP3 format and can be moved to portable music players and burned to CD without limitations. Pricing has been set at 50 pence (about 90 cents US) per track.
