REAL Software has updated its REALbasic editing environment to version 5.5.3, which adds more options for building REALbasic plug-ins. Developers can now use familiar environments like GCC, Visual Studio and Apple’s Xcode to create REALbasic plug-ins. Version 5.5.3 also provides more reliable cross-platform group project management capabilities in REALbasic Project Manager, improves support for the Mac OS X Address Book, and adds support for XML in console applications and RBScript in Linux console applications.

REAL Software today announced the release of REALbasic 5.5.2, the latest release of the company’s cross-platform visual development environment. Version 5.5.2 adds support for the SQL database’s capability for updating misformed date and time values when used in tables. It also now supports the SQL RecordSet.Delete command. In addition, REALbasic 5.5.2 can load JPEGs and PNGs graphics files independently of QuickTime.
