Nikon intros new Coolpix cameras, D2X digital SLR

Nikon today announced three new digital cameras in its Coolpix line as well as a new digital SLR camera. The new Coolpix 8800 (US$999–pictured at right) boasts an 8-megapixel resolution and a high-powered 10x optical Zoom-Nikkor ED lens. The 8-megapixel Coolpix 8400 ($899) features “the widest-angle of coverage of any digital camera available today” thanks to its ultra-wide 24-85mm (35mm equivalent) zoom Extra-low Dispersion glass lens. The Coolpix 4800 ($399) sports a 4.0-megapixel resolution, an 8.3x optical zoom, and weighs 9 oz.

Nikon intros new cameras with red-eye correction

Nikon today announced two new consumer digital cameras—the 5.1 megapixel Coolpix 5200 and 4.0 megapixel Coolpix 4200. Both models offer in-camera image correction with advanced red-eye reduction; 3x optical zoom; 12MB of internal memory and compatibility with SD memory cards; three movie modes (5200 only); PictBridge support; and use Nikon’s pro-quality grade ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass.

Nikon introduces new 3.2-megapixel Coolpix digital camera

Nikon today introduced the Coolpix 3500, the latest digital camera to join its Coolpix line, featuring a 3.2-megapixel CCD and 3x optical zoom. The camera also features Nikon’s inner-swivel lens design, a “sleek, slim body,” USB connectivity, and has the ability to capture 15 seconds of QVGA movies at 15 frames per second. The Coolpix 3500 will be available in November, priced at US$399.95.

Nikon today introduced the Coolpix 4300, the latest digital camera to join its Coolpix line, featuring a 4.0 megapixel CCD and 3x optical zoom. The Coolpix 4300 sports the same sleek, compact design as the company’s popular Coolpix 885 camera. The camera also features USB connectivity and a Macro Shooting Mode that allows users to take clear pictures from as close as 1.6 inches.
