Nikon today announced three new digital cameras in its Coolpix line as well as a new digital SLR camera. The new Coolpix 8800 (US$999–pictured at right) boasts an 8-megapixel resolution and a high-powered 10x optical Zoom-Nikkor ED lens. The 8-megapixel Coolpix 8400 ($899) features “the widest-angle of coverage of any digital camera available today” thanks to its ultra-wide 24-85mm (35mm equivalent) zoom Extra-low Dispersion glass lens. The Coolpix 4800 ($399) sports a 4.0-megapixel resolution, an 8.3x optical zoom, and weighs 9 oz. Finally, the new Nikon D2X 12.4 megapixel professional digital SLR camera “blends for the first time the high levels of resolution commercial clients demand with superb image quality, color consistency and class-leading speed.” Further details are available from the Nikon Web site.
