Apple is now taking pre-orders for Logic 7.1 and Logic Express 7.1, the next versions of the company’s powerful music creation applications. The updates cost US$19.95 and will ship in 2-3 weeks on a disc, according to the Apple Store.

Apple today posted the first updates to Logic Pro 7 and Logic Express 7–the company’s professional music creation and audio production software applications. Both Logic Pro 7.0.1 and Logic Express 7.0.1 offer enhanced reliability and performance. Specifically, they provide improvements in the following areas: compatibility with Audio Units and other formats, track automation, control surfaces, Ultrabeat, and other various improvements.

Emagic has released Logic Platinum 6.3.2, an update to its professional audio production software for Mac OS X. Version 6.3.2 brings support for the Digidesign ProTools|HD Accel System, improved Panther compatibility, a demo version of Space Designer, and other minor enhancements.

Emagic has released Logic Platinum 6.2, the first version of its professional audio production software that is optimized for Apple’s new Power Mac G5. Users will experience a “dramatic” increase in both speed and performance when using Logic Platinum 6.2 and the G5, according to the company. Logic Platinum 6.2 also includes special performance optimizations for the dual processor G5 model. “The G5 is a dream machine for musicians,” said Dr. Gerhard Lengeling, Emagic co-founder and Chief Architect Audio Applications.
