Apple has announced the winners of its Dashboard Widget Contest. The two winners were Alco Blom for Send SMS, and Michael Robinette for WikityWidget. “Send SMS provides the ability to send a message on the spur of the moment to someone without having to launch the Address Book application. Send SMS combines the instantly available Tiger Dashboard with Short Message Service, or SMS… WikityWidget is a personal notepad with automatic linking.

DashboardDeveloper is a new community for developers of Widgets, the mini-applications for Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger. “While Tiger won’t be available to the public for quite some time, DashboardDeveloper is giving developers the opportunity to start developing and sharing their creations. DashboardDeveloper’s revolutionary Showcase section is a custom-built forum for Widget sharing. Developers can upload Widgets and screenshots along with a description and detailed version information.

Billboard notes that “Hands Down,” the frist single from Dashboard Confessional’s highly anticipated new album, is available exclusively on Apple’s iTunes Music Store. Their album, “A Mark, a Mission, a Brand, a Scar,” is set to drop on August 2.
