Typinator 4.3 lets you define new snippets

Ergonis Software (http://www.ergonis.com) has released Typinator 4.3, the latest version of its tool for auto-typing text and auto-correcting typos system-wide across all Mac OS X applications. The new version allows you to define new snippets via configurable hotkeys or via Typinator’s menu.

Also, Typinator 4.3 also makes it easier to delete empty snippets and improves compatibility with Firefox, Google Chrome, FreeHand, and other third-party applications.

Typinator 4.3 requires Mac OS X 10.4 or newer, and Mac OS X 10.6 (“Snow Leopard”) is recommended.

iPhone 3G price cuts — and more on the Verizon/iPhone expectations

Last week, AT&T said it would drop the price of the iPhone 3GS from US$99 to $49, and Apple is following.The 8GB iPhone 3GS is now available from Apple’s stores for half of its previous price.

The price may have been halved, but you’ll still sign up for a two-year contract with AT&T. This happens just as Verizon is holding a special press event at 11 am (Eastern) tomorrow and is expected to announce that it is now carrying the iPhone in the US.

JVC announces world’s first 3D consumer camcorder

At this week’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, JVC (http://www.jvc.com) announced the world’s first consumer camcorder to offer 3D recording in Full HD, thanks to a new JVC-developed high-speed processor that can produce two simultaneous Full HD images.

The new GS-TD1 uses two camera lenses and two 3.32 megapixel CMOS sensors — one for each lens — to capture three-dimensional images much the same way that human eyes work.  VC’s new high-speed imaging engine simultaneously processes the two Full HD images — left and right images at 1920 x 1080i — within that single chip.
