US consumers want more Wi-Fi services from mobile operators

Seventy four percent of smartphone users in the United States are interested in a mobile operator-provided service that uses Wi-Fi to provide lower cost calls, according to a recent MarketTools Zoomerang survey of 420 smartphone owners. The survey, commissioned by Kineto Wireless, also showed 72% of smartphone users are interested in an application that uses Wi-Fi to improve cellular coverage.

Rumors of the day: iTunes Replay, the iPhone 5 in October

Here are the latest rumors circulating in the Apple blogosphere:

“AppAdvice” (http://appadvice.com) says Apple is almost ready to launch a full-fledged re-downloading and possibly streaming service for TV shows and movies named iTunes Replay. “In a nutshell, iTunes Replay is an extension to what Apple is already doing with iCloud and free re-downloads of previously purchased music,” the site says.
