Tim Cook speaks at AllThingsD conference

“We have some incredible plans that we have been working on for a while,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said at his AllThingsD conference talk.

Some of those plans could still involve a TV. Cook reiterated the market is of “great interest” to Apple and that the current experience is outdated. Cook also declared Google Glass to be a niche product, while adding (in a possible iWatch hint) the broader wearable computing market is a very interesting area.

Tablet apps processor revenue jumped 83% in 2012

The global tablet applications processor market showed an impressive 83% year-on-year growth in 2012 to reach US$2.7 billion, according to Strategy Analytics (www.strategyanalytics.com).

The research group notes that Apple continued its dominance in the tablet applications processor market with 48% revenue share in 2012. NVIDIA, Texas Instruments, Samsung and Qualcomm made up the rest of the top-five vendors. Strategy Analytics identified that a handful of Chinese tablet chip vendors captured 20 % volume share between them.
