Researchers claim to have found zero-day flaws in iOS, OS X

Six university researchers claim to have revealed deadly zero-day flaws in Apple’s iOS and OS X, saying it’s possible to crack Apple’s Keychain, break app sandboxes and bypass its App Store security checks so that attackers can steal passwords from any installed app including the native email client without being detected, reports The Register (http://tinyurl.com/o4y4wja).

SIM card shipments to reach 5.4 billion this year

ABI Research (www.abiresearch.com) predicts that 5.4 billion SIM cards will ship during 2015 marking a modest YoY [year-over-year] growth rate of 4.1%. The days of double-digit shipment growth for SIM cards are over and declining ASPs [average sales prices] have forced smart card and IC vendors to change strategies, says the research group.

Vendor focus is now moving away from market share gains and up the value chain. This movement is driven by higher value product propositions such as SWP and LTE SIMs with the aim of maintaining reasonable revenue growth.

Cadillac announces CarPlay integration for 2016 models

Cadillac’s 2016 model year products will feature enhanced connectivity and control, including the addition of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. These additions are part of a broader enhancement of CUE, Cadillac’s user experience, with new features and a faster, streamlined operation.

Apple CarPlay will debut in 2016 Cadillac models featuring CUE’s 8-in multi-touch screen except the SRX Crossover, a model that will move to an all-new generation in early 2016. Android Auto is expected to be phased into 2016 production at a later date. The 2016 model year will begin this summer.
