Samsung’s Shin Jong-kyun will meet with Google CEO Eric Schmidt in Seoul tomorrow, and “it’s a safe bet the topic of Apple will come up,” according to “CNET.”

The meeting comes a little more than a month after Samsung lost a major patent case to Apple in the U.S. A California jury verdict found that Samsung knowingly infringed on Apple patents and awarded the iPhone maker more than $1 billion in damages.

Ex-Googler joins Apple as director of Employee Communications

Apple hired Sally Cole away from Google as the director of Employee Communications in August, according to “9to5Mac” (www.9to5Mac.com).

According to her LinkedIn profile, she was the director of Internal Communications at Google before Apple nabbed her. She has also served as senior director, Strategy, at the Gap and deputy chief of staff for the US EPA. Cole has an MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

Google not working on Google Maps for iOS 6

Despite rumors to the contrary, Google isn’t working on providing Google Maps for the iOS 6 after Apple dropped the app in favor of a home-grown (and much maligned) app dubbed Maps, reports “Reuters” (http://macte.ch/ikIba).

“We think it would have been better if they had kept ours. But what do I know?” Google CEO Eric Schmidt told a small group of reporters in Tokyo. “What were we going to do, force them not to change their mind? It’s their call.”
