MacMinute Reader Michael Sterne notes that c|net has published an in-depth “OS Death Match” comparing Mac OS X with Windows 2000 . The report compares the operating systems on five levels: installation, interface, software compatibility, hardware compatibility, and Internet support. c|net concludes: “Color us shocked, but our panel of seven judges delivered a solid victory to the revolutionary Mac OS.

Juno and NetZero have announced they will merge, creating the second largest ISP in the US with about 7 million customers, more than EarthLink and MSN. The companies hope the deal, valued at $70.7 million, will help sustain the dream of providing free Internet access, although neither company offers Mac support at this time.

Symantec has once again updated their Virus definitions. The June update is available for download from the Symantec Web site.

Macintouch is reporting that the “Simpson’s AppleScript Virus” is starting to make its way to Mac users. Although there have been no reports of destructive behavior, the virus opens Outlook Express in the background and sends a copy of the original message, and the script, entitled “Simpsons Episodes,” to everyone in your address book. Macintouch has contacted the virus centers and are awaiting a response.

People will get a chance to see the first theatrical trailer for Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. this coming Friday at the Monsters, Inc. and Apple Web sites. The trailer will also make its theater debut at Disney’s “Atlantis: The Lost Empire” in Los Angeles and New York. The film is scheduled for release November 2, 2001.
