Apple’s relations with third-party developers are at an all-time low, according to MacUser UK. Continued uncertainty over Mac OS X and the tools Apple is giving developers for creating applications for the platform is causing a rift among many software houses big and small.

Apple will be showing off iTunes, iMovie 2, and Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 for Mac at the World Cup Skateboarding Event in the UK, according to Macworld UK. The event, which is held August 11-12, is the UK’s biggest skate event and was sold out last year. Tickets are still available for this year’s World Cup.

Pioneer today reduced prices on its DVD-R and DVD-RW media to US$9.95 and $19.95, respectively. Both formats hold 4.7GB. Apple has offered a 5-pack of DVD-R media for $49.95 from the Apple Store since January.

MedioStream today announced neoDVD, a DVD authoring solution for Windows that the company claims “sets a new standard for the simplicity and ease of use” by allowing users to go straight from the DV camera to disc with one application. On 1.1GHz systems and faster, the company claims that neoDVD will encode DV footage to MPEG-2 (required for DVD playback) at real-time, the same as Apple’s US$3,499 dual-800MHz G4 system.

Tech portal giant C|net posted a US$23.4 million operating loss for its second quarter as revenues fell to $71.1 million from the $104.3 million in the year ago quarter. Average daily page views increased 26 percent to 38.4 million across the company’s properties. C|net maintains that reliance on online advertising is a sound business model, despite choppy economic conditions. The company also announced that it will be laying off 190 employees, or 15 percent of its staff.
