SONICblue has introduced the Rio One, an affordable new portable digital audio player. The Rio One features 32MB of built-in memory, expansion support through smart media cards, USB connectivity, and ships with Mac software. The device supports both MP3 and Windows Media file formats. Rio One will ship during the next two weeks and will sell for US$99.

Intuit today officially announced that it has begun shipping Quicken 2002 Deluxe for Mac, after some readers reported receiving copies of the software late last week. Quicken 2002 Deluxe is Carbonized for Mac OS X, and includes a number of new assistants and automated tasks that improve efficiency. The software is available for US$59.95; previous users are eligible for a $20 mail-in rebate.

Apple has released an ActiveX version of its QuickTime plug-in for Windows, which resolves compatibility issues with Internet Explorer 5.5SP2 and the soon-to-be-released Internet Explorer 6.0. Users of either browser can go here to download the new plug-in, if necessary.

No More AOL CDs, as noted by The Register, is a Web site aiming to collect one million America Online CDs — which it will then deliver to the company’s headquarters as an act of protest against AOL’s distribution practices. With this amusing approach, the site seeks to make it clear to America Online that many people do not want the CDs, to stop the needless pollution involved with distributing the materials, and to preserve personal privacy.

Apple will be attending MacExpo, a UK Mac show taking place November 22-24, reports MacUser UK. MacExpo marks Apple’s first presence at a UK Mac show in there years. Apple will have the largest booth at the show.
