Olympus bills its new D-40 Zoom as the world’s smallest 4 megapixel digital camera. The D-40 Zoom features a 2.8x optical zoom, Olympus’ Enhanced Color Management system, and an Optimum Image Enlargement mode that enlarges images up to 7.7 megapixels without much loss in image quality. The camera will ship in October for US$799 and will come bundled with a 16MB SmartMedia card.

Epson today began shipping two new inkjet printers, the Stylus C60 and Stylus C80. Priced at US$99, the C60 features at 2,880×720 dpi print resolution and can print at speeds of up to 12 pages per minute (ppm) for black text and 8 ppm for color. The C60 can also produce an 8″x10″ photo at under four minutes and includes a $20 mail-in rebate.

FileMaker today announced that FileMaker Pro 5.5 now supports Cirtix MetaFrame 1.8 and Windows 2000 Terminal Services, thin-client technologies that aid with the deployment of FileMaker databases.

Macworld UK notes that Apple Australia’s managing director, Diana Ryall, is retiring after 20 years of service to the company. Ryall was diagnosed with cancer last year and cites ill health as the reason for her resignation. Ben Bowley, former Apple marketing chief of Australasia, will take over the position at the end of September.
