Thursby Software, creators of DAVE, MacSOHO, and other titles, today announced that it will be donating all sales from it online store between now and September 21 to the American Red Cross. “I felt we had to do something to help during this difficult time,” said William Thursby, president of Thursby Software. The company says it hopes to donate some US$25,000 to the Red Cross.

NextComm today introduced a new technology dubbed Key Hopping that it says will greatly improve the security of 802.11-based wireless networks. The technology uses security keys that are frequently changed to prevent intruders from breaking the encryption. NextComm says it will work with OEM suppliers to implement Key Hopping, and expects the first 802.11 products to ship with the technology by the end of the year.

SONICblue today introduced two new MP3/CD players, the RioVolt SP90 and SP250. The RioVolt SP90 carries a US$99 price tag; supports MP3, WMA, and audio CD formats; and features two minutes of skip protection.
