Dan Moren is right; Apple does need a ‘game czar’

Despite the power of Apple Silicon, the Mac still remains (or at least is perceived as) a lackluster gaming PC. In a February article at Macworld, Dan Moren said that Apple needs a “game czar.” He’s right. From Dan’s article: Over the years since, Apple’s interest in...

Otterbox Commuter for iPhone 4 offers style without bulk

By ‘Doctor Dave’ Greenbaum

iPhone cases seem to come in two different varieties: fashionable lightweights that look nice but provide poor protection and larger cases that add protection along with bulk. Personally, I prefer
function over form, but the Commuter from Otterbox (http://www.otterbox.com) is an excellent compromise that adds style and protection without a great deal of bulk.

Getting touchy, feely with the Matias Tactile Pro keyboard

By ‘Doctor Dave’ Greenbaum

In the early days of Macintosh computing, the displays were black and white, the systems booted off a floppy, and the keyboards were noisy. That familiar “clickety-clack” of someone typing was as familiar as the whirring of the 3.5 inch floppy.

Nathan Rock Band Nano Armband for third gen iPod nano

Okay, I’m not sure how much practical sense it makes to use your the next gen iPod nano as a watch — but it’s pretty cool, in a geek dreamy sort of way. And you can do just that with the US$19.99 Rock Band from iLoveHandles (http://ilovehandles.net/).

The band is made of leather, is specifically designed for the nano and sports a cut-out notch to make sure the iPod is centered. It has five holes so it can be adjusted for just about any size wrist, including a skinny one like mine.

Poser 8 one of the most significant upgrades to date

By Bruce Bicknell

I’ve been reviewing and using Poser for many years now and have to say that Poser 8 is one of the most significant upgrades to date. The folks at Smith Micro (http://www.smithmicro.com) really raised the bar this time. Two key improvements are the new interface and the much-improved OpenGL features.
