Otterbox Defender the most durable case for the iPhone 4

By ‘Doctor Dave’ Greenbaum

The Otterbox Defender (http://www.otterbox.com) series of iPhone cases has gotten a just reputation over the past couple years as the Cadillac (or should that be M1-A1 tank?) of iPhone protection.

Consisting of several separate and integrated layers of protection designed to secure and protect the phone from whatever shock and awe gets thrown its way, the Defender is the iPhone case you’d go to war with. Does the new Defender for the iPhone 4 meets it predecessor’s lofty reputation or are there some chinks in the armor?

Kool Tools: SiteGrinder

Want to do web development but don’t know a lot about HTML or CSS? Well, if you’re pretty handy with Photoshop, SiteGrinder from Media Lab (http://www.medialab.com) may be your cup of tea.

SiteGrinder works like a combo Photoshop plug-in and stand-alone application that lets you develop a content management system (CSM) without messing around with HTML, CSS or even Javascript. You can build a web site via the addition of one-word hints, such as “rollover” or “menu,” to the names of layers in a Photoshop design file.

Ricoh CX2 a worthy digital camera update

By Daniel M. East

After the impressive CX1 model last year, I was optimistic about the new, US$329 Ricoh CX2 (http://www.ricoh.com). It offers the same body type and long-life battery, but with a few updates as well.

The new model sports a 10.7x optical zoom lens (28–300mm) versus the CX1’s 7.1x (28–200mm). Like any more powerful zoom, this requires a steadier hand, a tripod, or monopod for best results. Beyond that, the majority of the features between the two models remains the same.
