Apple teams with Ericsson, Sun on wireless multimedia

Apple, Ericsson and Sun Microsystems have announced a relationship to develop the Ericsson Content Delivery Solution, a new standard for delivering multimedia content to wireless devices, such as mobile phones and PDAs. The standards-based solution is comprised of Apple’s QuickTime for content creation and encoding, Sun’s software and systems to enable content distribution, and Ericsson’s existing mobile infrastructure.

Bryce Camp 2002 coming in May

Bryce Camp, a 5-day intensive training course on Corel’s 3D natural landscape software, will be held May 20-24 in Sedona, Arizona. The faculty of the courses will include author Susan Kitchens, Hollywood digital artist Chris Casady, computer artist and graphics researcher Dr. Ken Musgrave, 3D artist Scott Tucker, and 3D artist and animator Clay Hagebusch. Tuition is US$955 for five days of instruction, a sunset jeep tour, a software/book giveaway, and several presentations.

Pacific Image Electronics Inc. has introduced the PrimeFilm 3600PRO, a professional-quality film scanner for Mac OS 8/9 featuring 3600 dpi that produces a digital image with resolution as high as 5100×3445, an automatic film loader, and both FireWire and USB 1.1 connectivity. The scanner, which comes with Adobe Photoshop Elements, sells for US$499. Mac OS X support will be added in a future update.
