IDG, Apple offer Macworld exhibitor deals

IDG World Expo and the Apple Developer Connection have teamed up to offer two deals for ADC Premier or Select members interested in exhibiting for the first time at Macworld Conference & Expo New York. The first package, priced at US$5,500, includes a 10′ x 10′ exhibit space and all of the basic materials for constructing the booth. A second sponsorship package, priced at $7,000, includes the same space and materials as well as inclusion of the company’s logo on an official sponsorship banner and on the show’s Web site.

Smith Micro releases FAXstf X 10.0.3

Smith Micro Software today posted FAXstf X 10.0.3, a free update to its fax communication software for Mac OS X, as noted by VersionTracker. The new version adds the option to not include a cover page, support for port arbitration (requires Mac OS X 10.1.3), reduced CPU load during fax transmission, support for two-byte language characters, and additional improvements and bug fixes. FAXstf X sells for US$59.95.

iPhoto plays role in “Day in the Life” digital shoot

Apple’s iPhoto is among the tools being given to one hundred of the world’s top photojournalists for the “Day in the Life of Africa” digital shoot. The event will send the photographers to different locations across Africa on February 28 with the challenge of capturing a photo that will be chosen for the “A Day in the Life of Africa” book, Web site and travelling exhibition.

Apple receiving Grammy award tonight

Apple tonight will be presented with a Technical Grammy Award from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences for its “outstanding technical contributions to the music industry and recording field.” On January 31 it was announced that Apple would be receiving the award this year, as well as Moog Synthesizers.
