MacNETv2 publisher John Manzione has put together an article detailing his troubles with a new Power Mac G4 system featuring the GeForce4 MX graphics card. Manzione is among a group of several users of such systems that have reported experiencing problems with the graphics card. Thus far, Apple has yet to do anything about the problem.

Apple has released DVD Player 3.1 for Mac OS X via the Software Update control panel. The new version adds features for DVD authoring, AppleScript support for the selection and playback of DVD content, a Script menu, a ‘wide’ layout for the info window, and stability enhancements.

Copy-protected audio CDs, which aim to prevent a user from ripping its contents to a computer or other device, are beginning to be more widely distributed in the U.S., according to The New York Times (free registration required). The CDs have the side effect of being unplayable on some computers, including Macs.
