Three iPad accessory mini-reviews

The iPad accessories continue to pour in. Today we’ll offer three “mini reviews” of some cases.

Apple’s US$40 iPad Case is actually more of a cover than a case. But it has the advantage of offering built-in stand functionality. It can be used in various positions so it’s easy to type, look at photos and slideshows, or watch movies.

On Stage Micro IV good, but not great

Harman’s JBL On Stage Micro IV (http://www.jbl.com) is described as a “portable loudspeaker dock” that will “will flood virtually any room or outdoor space with realistic JBL sound.” (I’m not sure how realistic JBL sound differs from plain ol’ realistic sound, but that’s beside the point.)

The problem is that the Micro IV isn’t THAT portable and the sound is good enough, but not outstanding.

Audioengine N22/AP4 combo an impressive bookshelf speaker package

If you want some impressive sound from bookshelf speakers, team up Audioengine’s (http://www.audioengineusa.com/) N22 Premium Desktop Audio Amplifier with their Audioengine P4 passives (AP4s).

The N22 is a compact integrated stereo power amplifier and headphone amp that you can connect to your iPod, computer, and speakers or headphones. Two audio inputs are standard so you can plug in your computer, iPod or stereo directly.

Review: Digitally mark this with Digimarc

By Jay Nelson

The US$49 Digimarc for Images 4 plug-in (http://www.digimarc.com) for Adobe Photoshop or Photoshop Elements (Windows only) embeds your own unique copyright information invisibly, then their Web crawling service constantly looks for watermarked images on web sites, and reports the results back to the owner.
