Apple announces recall of all Beats Pill XL speakers

Apple has announced a voluntary recall of Beats Pill XL speakers, including a refund for customers. Apple has determined that, in rare cases, the battery in the Beats Pill XL may overheat and pose a fire safety risk. The recall doesn’t affect any other Beats or Apple products. 

Customers who purchased a Beats Pill XL speaker should visit www.apple.com/support/beats-pillxl-recall for details about how to return their product to Apple, and how to receive an Apple Store credit or electronic payment of US$325.

nVeil is a new image remix tool for Mac OS X

Storek Studio (http://storekstudio.com) has introduced nVeil for Mac OS X, a graphic remix tool.

The app generates works of digital abstract cubism by filtering photos or video through vector-drawn veils. Colors and motion come from the source imagery, and can be further modified with nVeil’s controls. The app plays with the hidden image, always displaying a harmonic palette of colors, and syncs most music with nVeiled video, through the proximal incidence algorithm.

Worldwide production printer shipments grow 7.5% in the first quarter of 2015

The worldwide production print market enjoyed 7.5% year-over-year growth in unit shipments in the first quarter of 2015 (1Q15), according to IDC (www.idc.com). Unit shipments grew to approximately 11,167 units (printers and MFPs), and shipment value increased 3.6% to nearly US$1.2 billion in the same time period, according to the research group.
